BIO

Sean Holleran is an American artist concerned with observing repositories of memory sustained by the painting process. His practice centers on a meditation between intention and materiality. Through restrained compositions, narrow chromatic ranges, and a disciplined economy of form, he replicates fields of interiority within oil painting as a material process. His subject emphasizes the lingering weight of memory, labor, and time embedded within painterly apparatuses. Holleran’s work seeks to assume the burden and subsequent transfiguration of the art-making process.
